Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) Department: Surgical Services / Operating Room Employment Type: Per Diem Rotating weekends On Call North Shore Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. The Surgical RN provides safe, effective, and compassionate patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires strong critical‑thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Pre‑Operative Conduct pre‑operative assessments and verify patient history, allergies, and planned procedures. Prepare surgical suites, equipment, and instruments according to case requirements. Educate patients and families on surgical processes and what to expect. Intra‑Operative Function as circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse as assigned. Maintain a sterile and safe environment in the OR. Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists. Monitor patient status and respond to changes throughout surgery. Accurately document intra‑operative findings and interventions. Post‑Operative Assist with patient transfer to PACU or designated recovery areas. Provide thorough hand‑off communication to the next level of care. Support post‑operative evaluations and quality care initiatives. Additional Duties Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Participate in ongoing education, training, and competency programs. Maintain excellent communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Qualifications Required Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida (or eligibility to obtain). BLS certification (American Heart Association). Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience. Preferred 1–2 years of OR/Surgical Services experience. ACLS certification. CNOR certification (or willingness to obtain). Experience circulating and/or scrubbing in a variety of specialties (general, ortho, neuro, OB/GYN, cardiovascular, etc.). #J-18808-Ljbffr
