Job Summary:

The System Software Programmer - Project Lead will oversee and lead software development projects, ensuring the design, coding, testing, and implementation of system software solutions. This hybrid role requires collaboration onsite and remote work, focusing on delivering high-quality software within the Department of Social Services in South Carolina. The candidate must be a current South Carolina resident and will manage project timelines and technical teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead software programming projects from conception through deployment.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define project scope.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain system software applications.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Manage project schedules and deliverables to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a software programmer with project lead responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of system software development and programming languages.
  • Ability to work onsite in Columbia, South Carolina at least 3 days per week.
  • Current residency in South Carolina (no relocation allowed).
  • Valid security clearance or ability to obtain required security clearance.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with hybrid work environments and remote collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with state government software systems and compliance requirements.
  • Project management certifications or training.
Special Considerations:
  • Candidate must be a current South Carolina resident; no relocation permitted.
  • Role is hybrid with 3 days onsite per week but may change to fully onsite with little notice.
  • Security clearance is required for this position.
  • Use of sub vendors allowed only one level deep with prior approval.
Scheduling:
  • Full-time position with a 40-hour workweek.
  • Work schedule includes a hybrid model: typically 3 days onsite per week.
  • Contract duration is 12 months starting approximately August 17, 2026, with possibility of extension.
